Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc gives rise to wines that are smoother than Cabernet Sauvignon. It is grown to produce red or rosé wines. Wines made from the Cabernet Franc variety are poorer in tannins than Cabernet Sauvignon wines, and this is why they are typically blended to obtain a more subtle and complex blend while accelerating their aging and evolution. Slightly floral with a smooth texture and acidity that is never very high, Cabernet Franc also has a strong presence of herbal aromas, which is perhaps the main reason why there are not many 100% Cabernet Franc varietals in Chile or the world.
