Charleston Wine + Food Festival

CULINARY VILLAGE

Description: Located in Marion Square, the Culinary Village is the heart + soul of the festival. The Culinary Village ran Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for tasting, sipping, chef demos, live music, and more.

Participation: Wineries sent Cabernet Sauvignon to be tasted by festival attendees after taking the Chilean Cabernet Quiz. All Cabernet wines were categorized into taste profiles: “Bold & Toasty”, “Silky & Vibrant”, or “Lush & Juicy”.

INDUSTRY LOUNGE

Description: The Industry Lounge was an exclusive-access tent connected to the Culinary Village. The lounge was the ideal location for industry professionals such as food & beverage trade, chefs, somms, media, and press to mingle and discover premium brands.

Participation: Wines of Chile was the only wine selection provided in the Industry Lounge. The wines were premium, and provided the perfect opportunity to showcase Chilean wine to the trade.

MASTER CLASS OLD VINES + OLD WINES

Description: This ticketed workshop highlighted the age-ability of premium Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. VinePair’s cofounder Adam Teeter gave an overview to attendees about what makes Chile so special for producing premium Cabernet. Participation: Wineries sent Cabernet Sauvignon of a recent vintage, and a vintage 10+ years older. Attendees compared the two vintages – noticing the high-quality taste still present in the older wines.

DINNER CULINARY CROSSROADS: TEXAS X CHILE

Description: The exotic flavors of Chile were met with the smoky staples of Texas in an exclusive culinary collaboration. Famed pit-master John Lewis and Chilean chef Fernanda Tapia paired their awardwinning barbecue fare with Chilean wine. Also, Chef John Lewis custom-built a Chilean grill for the dinner, to further authenticate the experience for guests.

Participation: Wines of Chile was the only alcohol offered at this unique dinner. It was the perfect opportunity to showcase Chilean wine and the classic culinary pairings.
