Chilean wine exports broke records in 2011 with 8.9 percent growth over the previous year, reaching US$1.69 billion in sales. Auspicious figures aside, however, the German market continues to present a challenge when it comes to positioning Chilean wine. Chile’s participation in Prowein and the launch of the promotional Chilean wine tour will therefore be key factors for the Andean nation’s success.
Winemakers in Chile are now permitted to begin exporting wines with a lower alcohol content, announced Minister of Agriculture Luis Mayol and Minister of Economy Pablo Longueira on Tuesday.
