Syrah du Monde 2011-Results are in!

Chile has been gaining increasing attention for the wide range of excellent Syrahs it produces, and here’s more evidence.

This year’s Syrah du Monde took place at in France’s northern Rhone Valley, at the Château d’Ampuis in Ampuis, May 11–13, 2011. The competition included 383 wines from 24 countries, and resulted in 128 medals: 34 gold and 94 silver. Chile brought home 2 gold medals and 5 silvers.

Chile has 6,027 hectares planted to Syrah, ranging from the Elqui Valley in the north to the Itata Valley in the south.
