Wine bloggers-mark your calendars October 22-24 and cast your eyes toward Vienna, Austria, for the III Annual European Wine Bloggers’ Conference. The agenda is shaping up for a promising event.
Now in its third year, the European Wine Bloggers’ Conference began in 2008 when Robert McIntosh from The Wine Conversation and Ryan and Gabriella Opaz from Catavino set the first conference in motion in order to bring wine bloggers from Europe and elsewhere together face to face as a way of building stronger relationships among themselves and their blogs, with the wineries and retailers, and ultimately communicate better with their readers and consumers.
EWBC 2010 is a major event in the European blogging world, and Wines of Chile is proud to be among its premium sponsors–the only one from the New World at that. Wines of Chile’s UK Director Michael Cox is among the guest speakers, and his guided tasting of Chilean wines will be live streamed to the blogosphere.
Michael will be in excellent company. Well-known wine writer Elin McCoy, and Managing Director of Group Sales & Marketing for Bloomsbury Publishing, Evan Schnittman, have just been announced as keynote speakers.
Elin McCoy, author of “The Emperor of Wine: The Rise of Robert M. Parker, Jr.” and the “Reign of American Taste”, and wine and spirits columnist for Bloomberg News, will take a look into the future and discuss the intersection of the growing world of wineries, wine regions, and wine lovers, along with the explosion of internet and the blogging world and reflect on what it means for the future of wine criticism and the era of the wine guru.
Evan Schnittman, backed by his vast experience in the publishing world and expertise of digital wine communication (see his own Black Plastic Glasses ), will discuss what the future holds for publishing via books, magazines, blogs, and video, as well as community-based content building.
