Wines of Chile, an organization committed to promoting the quality and image of Chilean wine throughout the world, participated with a stand at ViiniExpo in Helsinki, the largest wine trade show in Finland, and one of the best places to meet both trade and wine consumers in a country where almost 1 in every 4 wines purchases wine originates from Chile.
Chile emerged as the big winner this week at the annual “Green Awards” ceremony held in London by leading wine and spirits magazine The Drinks Business.

News & PressYou may be hard-pressed to find a glass of Chilean Cabernet in some parts of the United States, where Chilean winemakers have yet to penetrate the local market. Yet a recent poll shows that the availability of Chilean wine far from matches a growing taste for it across the country. North Americans are increasingly interested in buying wine from the New World, looking beyond the likes of Napa Valley and traditional European vintners toward the world-class wines coming out of Chile.
Recently released scores from a 2011 Wine Advocate tasting showed exceptional results for Chilean wines. Nearly 600 wines received a score above 85 points, 200 wines received scores over 90 points, and nearly 100 wines scored over 91 points. These scores represent the strong increase in the quality of Chilean wine over the past few years.

Chile’s participation in Prowein and the launch of the promotional Chilean wine tour will therefore be key factors for the Andean nation’s success.
