December is a list-making kind of month, and rare is the wine publication that doesn’t come up with its own version. www.wine.com recently published its Top 100 of the year based solely on the top 1% of wines purchased by wine.com customers from January through November, 2009. The ranking shows that consumers look for both price and points, with 82% of the wines ranking 90 points or above and 75% ringing in under $20. Chile does very well in this range, as is clear by the 15% showing on the list.
Veramonte certainly has some very good friends over there at wine.com, and ranked very well in a number of different varieties. Los Vascos, Santa Rita, and Concha y Toro also have a place on this top ranking.
Wine.com consumers’ Chilean favorites:
15: Veramonte 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva
26: Los Vascos 2008 Sauvignon Blanc
36: Veramonte 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva
48: Veramonte 2007 Sauvignon Blanc Reserva
54: Santa Rita 2006 Medalla Real Cabernet Sauvignon
57: Veramonte 2006 Chardonnay Reserva
64: Veramonte 2005 Primus
66: Veramonte 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Reserva
