Wine Enthusiast names its Top 100 of the year

enthusiast100-2009The editors at Wine Enthusiast have been at it again. This time they’ve compiled their favorites of the year… and whittling the list down from the thousands tasted during the year to just 100 that deserve special mention is no small task.

They’ve considered critics’ scores, quality-to-price value, drinkability, uniqueness, varietal, terroir, country of origin, style, diversity, availability, and “wow factor,” put it all together and cranked out 100 very special wines… and of course Chile makes its appearance.

Leading the pack for Chile is the Concha y Toro 2006 Terrunyo Old Pirque Vineyard Block: Las Terrazas Cabernet Sauvignon from Pirque, in 7th place with 93 points.

Viu Manent 2006 Single Vineyard La Capilla Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (Colchagua Valley) comes in as number 72 on the list with 92 points and the 2005 Altaïr (Cachapoal Valley) takes the 78th position with 93 points.
