Chile Leads in Wine Imported to the US

The most recent Gomberg-Fredrikson Report revealed that wine imports to the United States increased by 19% during the first half of 2009.

Chile leads the pack with 40% of the total wine imported, more than doubling Argentina’s 18%, and far outweighing Portugal with 14% and France at just 12%.

The current economic crisis has benefited Chilean wine as cost-conscious consumers are taking advantage of Chile’s excellent price-quality ratio, and as the situation is not expected to improve significantly in the near future, this trend is expected to continue throughout the coming year.
