Wines of Chile will hold a Press Tasting in Dublin on Wednesday 15th September, 2010. Publicity from these tastings usually appears over a period of months in the National and Trade press in lead up to the busy Christmas selling period when the consumer is making their purchase choices, so this is the optimum time for this type of promotion.
The Irish economy has emerged from recession and there are some clear signs of recovery. Reports indicate that GDPexpanded by 2.7% in the first three months of 2010 compared to the final three months of 2009. The wine market has recovered slightly with sales by volume growing by 4% to April 2010, though value decreased by 1.4%.
Now more then ever as Ireland slowly comes out of recession we need to start selling to the trade, press and consumer. Brands are a crucial part of the equation. We need to create greater visibility and awareness and start sending strong message to the consumer via the press.
The Theme of this year’s tasting will be the Chilean Bi-Centenary. This will help to create a “bond” with the Irish consumer, many of whom are unaware that a man of Irish descent, Bernardo O’Higgins was one of Chile’s founding fathers.
We will highlight wines in the “mid-priced” range and also new styles of wine, new grape varieties and new wine regions.
