The Embassy of Chile in Washington DC will be hosting a number of events during the final week of September in celebration of Chile’s bicentennial.
Monday, September 27 will feature the kickoff event– a VIP Sommelier Wine Tasting at the residence of Chile’s newly appointed ambassador, Arturo Fermandois. Comprising seminars on wine-and-food pairing & the premium wines of Chile as well as an award to the Best Sommelier of Chilean Wine in Washington, the event will culminate in comprehensive tasting of Chilean wines that will be divided into regionally-themed tasting sections within the residence of the ambassador.
Tuesday, September 28 the Embassy will host an intimate reception for the board of directors of the Capital Area Food Bank, which sponsors the annual Blue Jeans Ball– one of Washington DC’s top culinary events. Attendees at the reception will be treated to Chilean style hors d’oeuvres as well as a sampling of Chilean wines.
Wednesday, September 29 will see importers, distributors, and retailers from across the Washington metro area descend on the Embassy of Chile for a mini trade show featuring exclusively Chilean gourmet and artisanal products. Of course, no display of Chilean gourmet items would be complete without a sampling of the fine wines of Chile.
The Embassy’s final celebratory event of the week will take place on Thursday, September 30. Again at the residency of Ambassador Fermandois, the Embassy of Chile will host a celebratory reception for the Association of Chilean Exporters, AG or ASOEX. The reception will commemorate ASOEX’s 75 years in business and guests will be treated to freshly prepared hors d’oeuvres made from pristine Chilean ingredients. And of course there will be a selection of fine Chilean wines to sample.
