Anita Jackson rated as 33rd most influential person in wine

Wines of Chile UK Director Anita Jackson has been rated as number 33 in a list of the 100 most influential people in wine.

Each year the Off Licence News pulls together their list of the top 100 most influential people in wine, and this year Wines of Chile UK Director Anita Jackson leapt ahead from position 67 to position 33 in recognition for her work promoting Chilean wine in the UK.
"A much higher placing than in the 2015 list reflects the impact Jackson has had on Chile’s fortunes since being appointed to fill the shoes of the late Michael Cox in 2014," wrote Off Licence News Editor Martin Green. "Jackson was the driving force behind last year’s mould-breaking Mercado Andino trade tasting – co-hosted with Argentina – and Chile’s own accompanying consumer event, Mercado Chileno. But the real proof of the pudding
is in the commercial results, which see Chile as the only top seven country of origin, apart from Australia, to score annual off-trade growth and – perhaps more significantly – creeping ahead of South Africa in value in the quarterly Nielsen statistics that covered Christmas 2015.”
The Mercado Chileno was also praised recently by another influential drinks publication in the UK, The Drinks Business, which shortlisted Wines of Chile and Mercado Chileno for the Best Drinks Event in the Trade Awards.
Anita joins the acclaimed list with wine buyers for major supermarkets and wine store chains in the UK, as well as renowned journalists such as Jancis Robinson. Another professional to make it high in the list is General Manager of Chilean winery Concha y Toro's UK office, Simon Doyle, who came in at number 10.
