It's the first time a Chilean filmmaker has taken home and Oscar, and we are celebrating too!
It's with great pride to our country that the Chilean film production of 'Bear Story' took home the Oscar for 'Best Short Animated Film'. It's the first time a Chilean has won an Oscar in this category, and we would like to extend our congratulations to director Gabriel Osorio Vargas and producer Patricio Escala Pierart who are responsible for this work of art, and for taking our country to new heights in world cinematography.
'Bear Story' tells the tale of a bear who remembers his life, and how he was captured by the circus.
Only one other Chilean has taken home an Oscar in the awards' history: Alejandro Amenabar in 2004 for his film, The Sea Inside.
