WBW 2016: Who won the War?

This month Wine Bar War returned to the UK at Imbibe Live. Lines were drawn, corks were popped and wines were poured - but who won the Wine Bar War 2016?

Corkscrews were drawn and the battle was as fierce as ever but Ungrafted, the red team triumphed over all in this year's Wine Bar War and won themselves a trip to Chile.

Earlier this month, the Wine Bar War took place at Imbibe Live, an international wine fair in the heart of London. The four teams went head to head in front of a 10,000 strong audience of sommeliers, restaurateurs and on-trade professionals.

The four teams: Ungrafted, Bodega O'Higgins, Quinchah Wine Bar and Los Caballeros Locos, had 24 hours to build a pop-up Chilean wine bar and then during the two show days, impress visitors and judges with their wine selection, their innovative bar designs and their knowledge of Chile and the service they offered.

Over 1500 votes were cast over the two days joined by votes from the judges Ronan Sayburn MS, Chris Losh, Editor of Imbibe Magazine, Jane Parkinson, freelance journalist and Anne Krebhiel MW. Joe Wadsack was the superstar compere of the event throughout the two days ensuring the stand was jam-packed with visitors.

The winning team, Ungrafted was headed up by Martyna Pawliczek from Medlar accompanied by Valentin Radosav from Dinner at Heston, Zigmars Grinbergs from Oblix at The Shard and Lukasz Walkowiack from OXO Tower . Their well earned prize is a once in a lifetime trip to Chile in January 2017.
