Wine Advocate gives Chilean wine top scores in recent tasting

Recently released scores from a 2011 Wine Advocate tasting showed exceptional results for Chilean wines. Nearly 600 wines received a score above 85 points, 200 wines received scores over 90 points, and nearly 100 wines scored over 91 points. These scores represent the strong increase in the quality of Chilean wine over the past few years.

Patagonia Cuisine, the world’s best culinary book

For the first time ever Chile has won the international competition that highlights the world’s best culinary books. The award ceremony was held at the Theatre Les Folies Bergere in Paris and the book, Gourmet Patagonia’s “Patagonia Cuisine,” received the award for the best culinary book of the year at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Nine top judges from nine different countries gathered in Santiago this week to assess Chile’s finest wines, and of the 17 Trophies they awarded, 11 of them were for wines from Chile’s much-lauded cooler climate regions of Limarí, Elqui, San Antonio, Casablanca and Bío Bío.
