In just a short period of time since its first edition, Interwine China quickly gained local and international recognition for its international appeal and its ability to “inter-connect” (hence its abbreviated name Interwine China) international wine producers with China’s most sought after importers and buyers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers and buyers from restaurants, hotels and corporate event organizers.

Held biannually (Spring show in May, Autumn show in November), each Interwine China edition is attended by more than 500 exhibitors from over 20 countries, 20,000 trade visitors from the key cities of Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and 17 cities including 2nd Tier, 3rd Tier and fast-growing consuming markets. Our supporting charity this year is The British Columbia Hospitality Foundation. 

The Pequeñas tasting is scheduled to take place in New York on Monday, June 10th. This event will highlight our Boutique wineries, Icon and Old Vine Carignan wines to key wine industry professionals and enthusiasts in the Tri-State regions of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, which consumes 23% of Chilean and 20% of all Imported wines in the United States!

The Pequeñas tasting will be held in downtown NYC, at the Chilean concept store Puro Chile. Located near trendy SoHo, Puro Chile is accessible by many major subway lines and public transportation.

Schedule

From 1pm to 5pm, we’ll target local trade professionals including press, bloggers, sommeliers, wine buyers, importers and distributors. Not only will attendees be able to experience the exceptional portfolio of Boutique wines at this interactive tasting event, but they can also be able to taste Icon wines and Old Vine Carignan wines at special thematic tables.  Chilean appetizers will be served to complement the wines.

Wines of Chile USA’s partnership with the Guild of Sommeliers, a non-profit, member-run organization, committed to development, inspiration and exchange of information for wine service professionals across the U.S. is continuing into its fourth year. WoC and the Guild will conduct Chilean wine Seminars taught by Fred Dexheimer, Master Sommelier in Washington DC on April 9, Miami on April 11, San Francisco on April 18 and New York City on April 30.

The 2013 Chilean wine seminars will focus on Chardonnay, natural/organic/biodynamic/sustainable wine and Chilean Icon wines. Each city is expected to attract 40-50 attendees. Fred will guide attendees through the tasting and educate them on the extraordinary, but often under-represented Chardonnay, plus the developing natural/organic/biodynamic wines being produced in Chile. Fred will finish off the tasting by highlighting the top high-end wines known as “Icons.”

After the tasting all attendees will be tested on Chilean wine regions and history, plus be required to complete a blind tasting on two Chilean wines. The highest scoring attendee in each market will accompany Fred Dexheimer MS, Matt Stamp, MS and/or Geoff Kruth MS on the WoC sommelier trip to Chile in October 2013.  Chardonnay, natural wine and Chile’s Icon wines are of great interest to sommeliers, plus the possibility of winning a trip to Chile, accompanied by Master Sommeliers is sure to attract high numbers of qualified and influential sommeliers to each seminar.
