Winery specialists and wine writers gathered to participate in a Sensorial Workshop featuring the 4th Annual Wines of Chile Awards Gold Medal Winners. The wines, from 25 Chilean wineries, were presented by their winemakers, who explained the vinificatio and ageing processes. The competition, held in January, was judged by a panel of experts from the United States.
Ricardo Letelier, General Manager of Wines of Chile, and René Merino, President of the Board of Wines of Chile, led the workshop. Merino emphasized the positive effects of this this competition has had on the American market after Wine Advocate taster Jay Miller announced his favorable evaluation. He also mentioned the importance that this market will have in the future, as it is held to become the primary consumer market in the years to come.
Alicia Frohmann, Director of ProChile, also participated in the event. She reiterated ProChile’s support for the industry and the importance of continuing to promote Chilean wine in the established markets as well as exploring new areas. |
