While we all love a good drink at the end of the day, it is fundamental to respect the potency of alcohol and importance of enjoying it in moderation. To re-enforce the message of responsible drinking, Wines of Chile (WOC) has recently joined the Wine in Moderation – Art de Vivre Association (WIM) to become part of the movement to tackle alcohol-related harm and promote a heritage of wine culture and appreciation.
“Wine has always been a lifestyle, a culture that has soul and that differentiates it from all the other alcohols,” Wines of Chile Director Claudio Cilveti explains. “Our activity generates more than 100,000 direct jobs and counts for more than 128,000 hectares of the entire country. 85% of the activity is done outside of the big cities and we have trained more than 40,000 workers and certified 5,000. 1.8 million people in the world taste a bottle of Chilean wine every year and we have a stamp of sustainability that gives priority to the environment and social aspects. We have the obligation to inform and communicate to our consumers that wine is always enjoyed only in moderation.”
In May 2014, Wines of Chile’s membership was approved by the WIM General Assembly and now WOC is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing WIM in Chile.
