British winewriter Peter Richards was back in Chile recently. He’s certainly no newcomer to Chile–been coming ’round for years and even wrote the excellent book called “The Wines of Chile” (Mitchell Beazley Press, 2006). There’s not much he hasn’t seen, but this time he turned his eyes northward and explored what’s new in the Elqui and Limarí Valleys–and even entered the newest northern frontier–Huasco–for some fresh insights into the cutting edge in Chilean viticulture.
