It seems that members of the British wine trade have figured out that Chile is the place to be… especially in December! They’re calling it work, but who wouldn’t want to escape Europe’s cold and dreary winter in favor of bright, sunny–and warm–Chile, where the vines are flourishing and the grapes are well on their way toward the 2011 vintage right around the corner.
Jamie Goode has also trekked through the hinterlands of Chilean wine country, at the invitation of viñas Ventisquero, Tabali/Leyda, Casas del Bosque, Falernia, and Córpora, who brought a group to explore the latest in cool climate and high altitude viticulture from Bío Bío in the south, to Elqui, Limarí, and Huasco in the north, and Casablanca in between.
Jamie’s had plenty to say about the trip and has even included videos of some exciting new winegrowing areas too! Check out his blog (AKA Wine Anorak) for a series of posts on his most recent trip to Chilean wine country.
