MASTER-CLASS AND TASTING TO HELP THE CHILEAN WINE INDUSTRY
The Wine Academy of Spain (TWA) will host a charitable wine tasting on April 23 to benefit the Chilean wine growers and workers who were affected by the earthquake on February 27.
Master of Wine Pancho Campo, the president of TWA will lead the tasting in Madrid’s Hotel Wellington, accompanied by other celebrities of the wine sector such as Carlos Falcó (Marqués de Griñón), Javier Zacagnini (Aalto and Ossian), Mariano García (Mauro and Aalto), Christopher Cannan (Clos Figueras and Espectacle) and Miguel Gil (Bodegas Juan Gil and El Nido).
TWA is joined in its efforts to reach out to the people of Chile by the Chilean Embassy in Spain, Tte Wellington Hotel, Wakaya Comunicación, Verema, Vila Viniteca, Lavinia, and Wines of Chile, the institution in charge of distributing the proceeds of this charitable event.
Following on from the tasting there will be a reception and walk-around tasting of 12 tables representing the collaborating companies. The bodegas participating in this separate arena are: Clos Figueras, Aalto y Ossian, Bodegas Miguel Torres, Marqués de Riscal, Dinastía Vivanco, Campo de Borja, Codorniu, Pagos de Familia, Viña Magaña, Perelada, Vila Viniteca, Juve & Camps and Brupo Berceo-Luis Gurpegui Muga.

The Wine Academy of Spain
The Wine Academy of Spain is a private organization founded in 2003 by Pancho Campo MW, the only Spaniard to hold the title of Master of Wine. It focuses its activities on educating wine professionals and enthusiasts, promoting Spanish wine internationally through its Spanish Wine Education Program, promoting Spain as a wine tourism destination, analyzing the impact of climate change on the industry, and study trips to wine producing regions with the collaboration of the University of California Davis (USA). It is also an approved program provider for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and imparts courses throughout Spain. TWA organized the global conference on Climate Change and Wine and Winefuture – Rioja ’09. The Wine Academy is the organizing force behind Vinoble, which will take place in Jerez de la Frontera May 30-June 2, 2010.
