Just saw the new advertisement in Wine Spectator magazine (issue 31 May 2010) with the moto “you may think we are now upside down… we are not…” (relating wines to the earthquake) which is very smart. It’s signed CHILE. Is it from a government organisation for the promotion of Chilean Wines or is it yours?

Hi Gloria--in this world of "business is business," unexpected events can shift advantages and disadvantages from one place to another, and it is logical that competitors remain attentive to situations that can give them an edge. Immediately after the earthquake, there were rumors that Chile had lost a lot of wine and would not have enough supply to satisfy demand, but this is most definitely not the case. While there was loss, it was not enough to affect the country's ability to fulfill its contracts and keep its customers happy. We will get through this and come out the other side stronger and even better... that is the Chilean way!

I have enjoyed the growing numbers of Chilean wines that have come to Canada. I extend my wishes for a quick recovery and for the people of Chile, my deepest wish for health and prosperity going forward.
