Canada’s Beppi Crosariol waxes poetic on Chilean wine

beppi-crosariolFood, wine, and poetry have a natural affinity, and Ontario wine writer Beppi Crosariol finds Pablo Neruda’s odes to everyday things an inspiration… especially his Ode to Wine. His analysis of the poem is insightful as he teases out the relationship between Neruda’s vinous reflections and this beautiful country we call Chile, and which Crosariol deems “kissed by Bacchus.”

Read his inspiring piece on Chilean wine, with his recommendations, published by Globe Life on Friday, March 6:

As a long-time reader and fan of your wine columns, I was particularly delighted by the one on Neruda and Chilean wines, and couldn’t resist sending it to old friends in Chile who knew Neruda personally. They also enjoyed your column, but said that from personal observation they could state unequivocally that Neruda felt more inspired by a good bottle of whisky than of wine! I’d love to know your reaction to that, and so would they!
