Santiago, April 14, 2009
Vinos de Chile held its 2nd General Assembly of the year today, and key on the agenda was electing the Board of Directors that will lead the organization until 2011.
Most of the organization’s 90 member wineries participated in the secret ballot voting process that reelected sitting president René Merino, of Viña Casa Tamaya to his second term as President of Vinos de Chile.
“We have made great progress over the course of these past two years, but this new term presents the challenge of increasing our efforts in developing the industry, especially today, when the world is in a profound state of crisis,” said Merino during the General Assembly. “We will continue to work together in every sector to encourage the development of the industry and the image of Chile.” He also called for the members to work toward increasing responsible levels of wine consumption at home as well as abroad through the representation of Wines of Chile.
