Vinos de Chile has its new Board of Directors

Santiago, April 14, 2009

Vinos de Chile held its 2nd General Assembly of the year today, and key on the agenda was electing the Board of Directors that will lead the organization until 2011.

Most of the organization’s 90 member wineries participated in the secret ballot voting process that reelected sitting president René Merino, of Viña Casa Tamaya to his second term as President of Vinos de Chile.

“We have made great progress over the course of these past two years, but this new term presents the challenge of increasing our efforts in developing the industry, especially today, when the world is in a profound state of crisis,” said Merino during the General Assembly. “We will continue to work together in every sector to encourage the development of the industry and the image of Chile.” He also called for the members to work toward increasing responsible levels of wine consumption at home as well as abroad through the representation of Wines of Chile.

Dear Vinos de Chile Board of Directors,
If you ever need representation from the United States or just want some feedback, I am your man. I have a passion for wine and love to try all kinds of wine. All the great wine regions of the world put out some very nice wines, but none with the consistency and value of the Chilean wines; so many delicious wines that I can actually afford to buy. While the Carmeneres and Cabernets are incredible for my palette, the Syrahs and Pinot Noirs are also very tasty. I have my wine vendor bringing in more Chilean wines and he tells me we’re winning over more and more of his customers. I am entering a contest to try and win a trip to Chile’s wine country; wish me luck. Thank you for supplying the goods for one of my life’s wonderful little pleasures – a beautiful glass of wine.
